Whether you’re moving to a new house and re-evaluating your entertainment system needs, or simply in need of an upgrade to hook into new technologies available then geddit is here to help.
We’ve put together a quick guide to help you to choose the entertainment system that best suits your lifestyle.
Many televisions are too small for the room they’re in which can cause your viewing experience to be poor – don’t strain your eyes when binge watching!
To make sure you have the right size TV for your space, measure the distance from where you’ll be seated to where the TV will be positioned and write it down e.g. 180cm or around 6 feet. This will be the optimal viewing distance you should be aiming for.
Below, we’ve provided you a table to help. Television screen sizes are measured diagonally and shown in inches. Here in Australia, most of us know centimetres, so we’ve converted the optimal distance to cm to help. Just find a screen size that matches to the distance you wrote down.
|Recommended Viewing Distance|
|Full HD TV||4K/UHD TV|
|24 inches||91-152 cm|
|32 inches||121-203 cm|
|40 inches||152-254 cm|
|43 inches||163-273 cm|
|49 inches||186-311 cm||124-186 cm|
|50 inches||127-190 cm|
|55 inches||139-209 cm|
|60 inches||152-228 cm|
|65 inches||165-247 cm|
|70 inches||177-266 cm|
|75 inches||190-285 cm|
Keep in mind that you can always move the TV further than the optimal distance, but if you move it closer you may start picking up pixels when viewing.

Smart TVs need an up to date sound system to get the best audio experience. If you want to go all out, you can’t go wrong with a Home Theatre System, but if you want a minimalistic look or don’t have a heap of space then Soundbars still pack a punch. Either way you’ll get great quality sound.
If you’re not keen to pay for a subscription TV service and want to record free to air TV, recording devices are a good alternative. PVRs or personal video recorders can allow you to watch one show and depending on the unit record up to three other shows at once! If you’re busy or are working when your favourite shows are on, then it will never miss an episode again. Check out geddit’s range here.
